Municipal Landfill

SPECIAL NOTICE TO OUR RESIDENTS: The municipal landfill site (located at 1897 Cassburn Road) will open on Saturday mornings, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, from May 5, 2018 to November 3, 2018; this closing date valid for dry construction materials. For compostable materials (dead leaves, small branches), ratepayers will benefit from the landfill site for a few days more, up until November 17, 2018.

Driver’s identification will be required to enter and to drop off material.

New Measures Approved

Champlain Township Council has improved measures for disposing of compostable products and dead leaves at the municipal landfill site next fall so as to provide some leeway on account of the weather and the leaves falling off the trees later than usual.

The municipal landfill site will be opened until the first Saturday in November (November 3, 2018) for dry construction materials..

The change has to do with leaves. Council elected to REMOVE the bag limit for dead leaves left in front of a home. However, residents will still have to place them in clearly identifiable biodegradable bags (clear plastic or brown paper, they are easily found in most stores) or they will not be picked up. Such dead leaves, branches bundled in small packages and other compostable material may be dropped off at the landfill site until the third Saturday of November (November 17, 2018).
